It’s still me with a few upgrades
Why the move and the new name? I used to blog from another site on and off since 2008. Some weeks back The Husband asked if I would like him to host/manage/redesign my blog as a Mother’s Day/birthday gift to me. He will deny this but he sneakily managed to convince me to change the name of my blog because it had to incorporate the xander.sg domain name. The previous name just didn’t cut it. A friend asked “Next time when you have another child how? Change the blog name ah?” Well, Number 2 doesn’t seem to be happening leh. I guess we will decide when Number 2 happens lah.…

Let’s go to… Malaysia Boleh! at Jurong Point
The Husband and I had an appointment to have brunch with a friend at Jurong Point recently but the place we wanted to go originally wasn’t open yet. By that time both of us were really starving. Hungry breath kind of hungry if you know what I mean. So! We decided to explore the mall while waiting for our friend to arrive and we came across this odd new (opened on 6 October) place called Malaysia Boleh! If you ask me, the food quality and prices didn’t invoke the same kind of enthusiasm as the ‘!’ the owners had happily stamped onto the name. Thankfully it was not crowded so…

Foodie Friday: Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie (premix lah)
A few months ago, I bought some cookie mix with full intention to let Xan try his hands on the process of making one of his favourite snacks. I would have made them from scratch but who am I kidding? I’m horrible at measuring ingredients even with a digital scale and an assortment of measuring tools in the kitchen drawers. Instant cookie mixes are my party lifesavers and during the 20 mins of  mixing and sweating, I felt almost marthastewarty. Note that I said “months” because as usual, I procrastinated until 1 day before the package was due to expire. When I told Xan I was going to make some cookies that…

Wordless Wednesday: I love you mummy
Updated from my Facebook: I was very angry with Xan that afternoon because in a moment of anger, he took it out on Daddy with a CANE! Disclaimer: we have never used it on him. Only to whack the floor, sofa, etc. While Daddy whisked him into the room for his nap, I decided to lock myself up in the study to do some packing and to cool off. After about 2 hours, Xan woke up from his nap and came to the room to say sorry to me for making me mad. Even though he was instructed by Daddy to apologize to me the moment he woke up, he…

Let’s play…Viva Topo!
Based on looks alone, I will give award winning Viva Topo 2 big thumbs up . I love the wood pieces shaped like cheese wedges and mice with the little felt ears and tails. So cute can? The goal of the game is to gather as many pieces of cheese (they come in portions of 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 6 slices) you can grab without getting caught by the cat who will sneaking around and waiting to pounce on you. This game involves a little bit of strategy because the farther you go on the board, the bigger the cheese but each mouse is only allowed to collect 1 tasty piece…

Let’s play… Soccer Dinosaurs!
When Pam whipped out Soccer Dinosaurs from her bag, I thought to myself HA! Xan will surely like THIS! The dinosaurs look cute, rules are simple, game pace can be fast and most importantly, can use DIE! Not sure why the fascination with dice throwing but hey, whatever makes the kid happy right? Since we don’t have the habit of playing board games with the kid, he hasn’t grasp the concept of rules and waiting for turns. When we do play (board games, card games or whatever) I will admit we bend rules and alter game play just to make him happy or for the game to end very quickly so we can whisk…

Wordless Wednesday: Money can’t buy time with family
My favourite kind of birthdays are the ones spent with family. Having everyone together at the same place and at time is so rare nowadays. Money can’t buy time with family. I am very grateful and very happy to have most of my folks together for a simple meal at my mum’s last night . Wheee! Linking up with:
