Saturday Social BBQ at Timbre @ Gillman
The Husband was invited to Timbre’s 1st Saturday Social BBQ last month. When he told me we were all going to Timbre for a BBQ dinner, I was like Har? Timbre? Isn’t Xan a bit young for the place? Do they even allow kids there? Did you misread the email or not? Well, it’s true. Timbre now hosts Saturday Social BBQ every 1st Saturday of the month. The event is geared at families with children and promises good food, good music and cool activities to entertain the little munchkins while you dig into your sirloin steak. Steak? Did someone say STEAK? Pardon my excitement. This hungry pregnant woman’s current constant craving is…

Halloween Fun: The conniving lawyer and his evil zombie dentist son
As promised. Here they are. The Husband promised he would dress up for Halloween and so he did. Not bad eh? Notice the angry Evil Dr. Xan with his bowl of dismembered itchy fingers from naughty children. He was angry with me because I wanted him to bring the stethoscope since the outfit looked too generic for anybody to know he is a dentist. He refused and insisted people will know then looked at me like he wanted to say “Only you dumb dumb don’t know nia…” Ok lor… Xan was very insistent about wearing this garb because it really was from a dental clinic and he was super proud of…

Let’s play with… Chalk!
I used to love playing with chalk when I was a kid. There was always some kind of chalk lying around the house back then. My mum used to sew all sorts of stuff. Clothes for my sisters when they were kids, mend her clothes, mend my clothes, make flags, etc. In her sewing kit you will always find triangular chalk meant for marking fabrics. I also made sure I had a nice supply of the white chalk my primary school teachers love to throw at us. I bought the chalks lah, not collected them from being thrown at lah. I was a good girl you know? Naturally, these all…

Let’s make… Ice Cream Bread!
I chanced upon this really weird recipe while looking for dunnowhat online. Ice-cream bread! I know right? Madness! Fat die you ah! è‚¥æ»ä½ 啊! Budden I’m pregnant and I don’t care! So easy! 2 ingredients nia! Ice-cream and self-raising flour! When you think about it, it makes sense though. The ice-cream already have milk, eggs and sugar so all you need is just flour. Just to eng siew (entertain) you, here are the list of ingredients and measurements: Taken from The Hungry Housewife Makes One 8 x 4 loaf 2 Cups Ice Cream, any flavor, softened 1 1/2 cups Self-Rising Flour* Preheat your oven to 350. My 1st Parent Volunteering Experience
So, The Husband had been working as a parent volunteer for a primary school near our home for the last few months. One of the biggest event on the school calendar would be the Children’s Day funfair which is typically headed by the Parent Support Group (PSG) and backed up by parent volunteers like The Husband. Since he had just started his new job the week before, he was not going to be able to help out with the funfair on site as planned. Then how right? Lucky this fella is quite clever and is very nifty with graphics so he volunteered to design all the game stall signage and…

Wordless Wednesday: I see FEET!
A little late for Wordless Wednesday because I spent a little over 6 hours at the hospital waiting for The Baby to give us a good view of its important bits yesterday. I had to pack my mum and Xan in a cab back to her place after the 4th hour while I continue to wait for my last consultation. It didn’t look like it my day was about to end so soon. By the time I got home, I was completely exhausted. FIVE attempts in total. I think he/she was in a pretty tight fetal position. Maybe not in the mood for a photography session despite being jabbed and…

Let’s play… Doctor for a Day!
I meant to write about our experience at the Doctor for a Day event in August but so much had happened in the months that followed so this post had been sitting in my Draft folder for a while. Better late than never right? *awkward silence* Heeheehee… I read about the Doctor for a Day event that was to be held at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital on a couple of mom bloggers’ sites who had attended earlier sessions with their children. They shared many photos as well as their experiences about the event. The more I read, the more intrigued I was by it. Really so fun meh? I thought…

Shopping is easy with RedMart.com (Part 2 of 2)
(Sponsored Post) Remember my previous post about why shopping with RedMart.com was so awesome? Shopping online is convenient and easy. Shopping for groceries online is a lifesaver for busy working parents like us. Let me explain. My workplace is a little far from my son’s school (about 1 hour of drive time in rush hour traffic) and by the time I pick my son up from school, it would be almost 7 pm or later if I have to stay a little later at the office. The little one will not hesitate to let you know he is completely delirious with hunger (he likes to give me the rolled back…

Wordless Wednesday: Label of love
I was out delivering tickets to my winners from The Megabugs Return! Exhibition last week and stumbled upon this work of art. What a nice surprise! It reminded me of a Hong Kong movie I had watched on the telly a few days prior. Thank you Starhub for the free channels during the long National Day holiday weekend!! We don’t subscribe to the Chinese channels so being able to watch mandarin movies (even the really corny B grade ones) was a treat for me. The movie was called《å•身男女 》Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. in a nutshell, the movie involved lots of post-it label messages and miming across office buildings between…

Let’s go… to the Megabugs Return! Exhibition (plus admission tickets giveaway!)
Have you ever imagined coming face to face with bugs that are big as you? You don’t need to imagine lah, just hop over to the Megabugs Return! Exhibition at the Science Centre for an up-close and personal look at the gigantic Aedes mosquito, ants, dung beetles and many more critters this week. I must admit I’m not a fan of the creepy crawlies but somehow when they are magnified to such mega proportions, they really aren’t too bad. This year the Science Centre Singapore presents Megabugs Return! Exhibition from the 20th of April to the 18th of August 2013. The first Megabugs Exhibition was held 20 years ago with 11…
